Honor the Hippocratic Oath

Abstract

"To bring no other purpose than good and health to the sick" was the basis of the oath that Hippocrates transmitted to his disciples. Remembering it necessarily makes us reflect on the role of doctors in maintaining this ethical principle that, after more than two millennia of validity, continues to be the engine that drives our daily practice. We are witnessing an extraordinary era with the development exponential of new knowledge. It is estimated that humanity doubles the information every 2 years and these lapses will probably be reduced to only 11 hours in the coming decades, according to some forecasts.
