The cross-dipole acoustic logging transducer is a key component of multipole acoustic logging tools. Its frequency response and directive property directly affect the quality of dipole acoustic logging data and the accuracy of formation evaluation. In the theory of dipole acoustic logging, the dipole source is an ideal point source, while the cross-dipole acoustic logging transducer is in big size and cannot be regarded as an ideal dipole point source in terms of geometric dimensions. This paper conducts full-scale numerical simulation research on cross-dipole acoustic logging transducer based on the finite element method, analyzes the frequency response and directional performance of cross-dipole transducer in water, and points out the reasons for their directional performance changing with frequency. The results show that the directivity of the orthogonal transducer varies with frequency, in most frequency bands, the directionality of cross-dipole acoustic logging transducer differs significantly from that of ideal dipole source.
