The establishment of the Romanian administration in Sebeş, as a result of the achievement of the Great Union, also brought the establishment of the Romanian secondary education, through the State Civil School, an institution which, with some modifications, continues to this day. Our approach aims to capture the evolution of this institution in the interwar period and in the years of World War II, starting from the beginning and its consolidation and continuing with the efforts of the school leadership and the local community for school survival, with the presentation of objects study and extracurricular activities, with the presentation of the teaching staff, as well as with the rendering of a lesserknown episode, namely that of the presence of refugee students and teachers from the territories ceded by Romania during 1940 (Bessarabia, Northern Bukovina and Northern Transylvania). In addition to this information, we tried to recover some excerpts related to the life, activity and work of Professor Silviu Cărpinişianu, who led the school's destinies during 1920-1945.
