Abstract

This interview with individuals involved in defending the Jardin des Vaîtes (Besançon) and the Jardin des Vertus (Aubervilliers) against large-scale developments examines the nature of the political struggles that emerge from urban gardens in France today. The interview documents how these places and those that care for them enter political struggles, how they define action strategies, and how they deal with tensions between different social and material practices within the collectives set up for the fight. Ultimately, it contributes to better understanding the place of these spaces in contemporary urban struggles.
