« Le futur était maintenant » : la révolution est-elle un acte de préfiguration ?

Abstract

The Portuguese Revolution remains the story of the irruption of the masses, a shattering and immeasurable experience that shook the entire political, economic and cultural establishment. It is the most pivotal revolution since 19945. During the years of 1974-75, following over four decades of fascist dictatorship, the country underwent a significant transformation. It became a vibrant and creative environment, where millions of people actively and consciously engaged in the poièsis, the foundation of a new way of life that was both highly equitable and deeply free. The subsequent “democratic counterrevolution” aimed to eradicate the notion that the aspirations of those from below aren’t only political ghosts, that historical events are shaped not by states or political governments, but by social classes and their movements.
