This article explores the life of Evaristo Ríos Hernández, who was banished from workers› institutions in 1920 on charges of espionage. It highlights the contrasts in his biography. On one hand, he stands out as an exemplary leader: founder of a popular party, general secretary of organizations, and delegate to international congresses. On the other hand, a darker side emerges: collaborator with the police, manager of a clandestine cabaret, and perpetrator of acts of violence for hire. The Ríos case reveals a network of espionage and informants within labor organizations, showing how politicians and police forces were able to influence their decision
