Doi: 10.5902/2179769212231 Aims: the present study seeks to analyze the prevalence of lumbago and its influence on the quality of life of the pregnant woman. Methods: this was a cross-sectional and exploratory-descriptive research with a quantitative approach, performed with 70 pregnant women assisted in the Family Health Strategy network in the city of Paraibano – PB. The instrument used comprised multiple-choice questions related to sociodemographic aspects, the characterization of lumbago, and quality of life. The study was approved by the Ethics in Research Committee under CAAE: 16742713.7.0000.5182., protocol number 475.324. Results: lumbago was prevalent in 87.1% of the sample, present in pregnant women on a daily basis for a period longer than sixty minutes, and ranging from moderate to severe pain. To alleviate pain, women used strategies like the use of drugs, prolonged resting and walking. Conclusions: lumbago is a common symptom among pregnant women, and, therefore, should be more valued by health professionals.
