Abstract

International financial institutions, and especially the World Bank, can affect the process of economic development around the world, although more intellectually and politically than financially. We should nevertheless recognize that their influence has been ambiguous : many mistakes have been made in the past, mainly due to the internal functioning of these institutions. Today their main advantage is their technical expertise.
