Emotional intelligence and job performance: A case study at Hoang Duc company
Abstract
The aim of this study was to measure the impact of emotional intelligence on staff performance at Hoang Duc Pharmaceutical & Medical Supplies Co., Ltd (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam) with the intermediate variable of job satisfaction. There were 3 research phases: 2 qualitative phases and 1 quantitative phase. Therespondents were 4 leaders and 400 employees in the company. The assessment of Cronbach's Alpha test, exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis showed that the scales had convergent and discriminant validity and they werequalified for structural equation model (SEM). The research shows that emotional intelligence positively affects job satisfaction and job performance of staff members at Hoang Duc. Besides, this research points that next to the direct effects to the job performance of staff members at Hoang Duc, the emotional intelligence also indirectly influenced job performance through the intermediate variable which is job satisfaction.As a result, two groups with 16 managerial implications have been suggested.
