The article considers the problems of controlling power units of battery electric vehicles (BEV) when using in them specially configured automatic transmissions (AT) instead of single-reduction gear unit. The analysis of the BEV AT features in comparison with AT of hybrid electric vehicles of mass production is carried out. In comparison with AT gearboxes, BEV parameters are improved by most indicators. Among the new tasks is the coordinated control of the electric motor and AT clutches in the transients of shifting stages, and ultimately, the creation of an integrated control system for the BEV power unit. The methods of their solution by leading foreign companies are considered using examples with a typical 2-speed AT.
