A configuração de um ícone de nacionalidade: as tias baianas no Rio de Janeiro
Abstract
Resumo: O texto analisa como as Baianas se converteram em um poderoso ícone de nacionalidade brasileira. Para tanto, acionamos como principais referências as pistas encontradas em algumas pesquisas e alguns estudos, assim como as observadas em outros tipos de representações tais como os textos jornalísticos e as letras de músicas do cancioneiro popular nacionais. Neste sentido, este artigo apresenta em que contexto, em que medida e em quais sentidos as Baianas – mulheres negras egressas de Salvador e cidades do Recôncavo do estado da Bahia – desembarcam no Rio de Janeiro em meados do século XIX, então capital nacional, aí emergindo no imaginário coletivo como porta-vozes de uma ancestralidade que representa uma perspectiva de nacionalidade que anuncia, enuncia, integra e identifica socioculturalmente uma parcela significativa da população deste país. Presença marcante e inconfundível em algumas festas como o carnaval do Rio de Janeiro ou naquelas lidas como públicas e populares da Bahia como a de Santa Bárbara, a do Senhor do Bonfim e a de Yemanjá, as Baianas vetorizam e congregam tradição e modernidade em distintas temporalidades. To do so, we used as main references the clues found in some researches and some studies, as well as those observed in other types of representations such as the journalistic texts and the lyrics of the popular national songbook. In this sense, this article presents in what context, to what extent and in what ways the Baianas - black women from Salvador and the cities of the Recôncavo of the state of Bahia - disembark in Rio de Janeiro in the middle of the 19th century, then national capital, there emerging in the collective imagination as spokesmen of an ancestry that represents a perspective of nationality that announces, enunciates, integrates and identifies a significant part of the population of this country socioculturally. A striking and unmistakable presence in some celebrations such as the carnival of Rio de Janeiro or in those read as public and popular in Bahia such as Santa Barbara, Senhor do Bonfim and Yemanjá, the Baianas vectorize and congregate tradition and modernity in different temporalities.
