Examination of Nutritional Habits and Obesity Risk Status of Health Services Vocational School Students

Aim: The aim of this article is to examine the nutritional habits and obesity risk status of the students of Health Services Vocational School. Method: Survey model, one of the quantitative research models, was used in the study. The study was conducted on 344 students, 177 girls and 167 boys, who were educated in Ataturk University, Health Services Vocational School in 2020-2021 academic year and voluntarily participated in the research. In order to conduct the research, the permission of the use of the scale and the ethics committee was obtained. ‘Nutrition Habits Index’ was used to identify risk situations of students. The data obtained were analyzed through the statistical package program. Descriptive statistics, Independent Samples T Test and Chi-Square Test were used to analyze the data. Analysis results were evaluated according to p<.05 significance level. Results: According to the findings of the research, the mean age of male and female students is close to each other (20.19±1.96; 20.71±2.55). The mean height (177.89±6.44) and weight (71.46±11.63) of male students are higher than the mean height (162.87±9.67) and weight (55.98±8.71) of female students. Conclusions: Body Mask Index (BMI) mean of female students (22.53±3.09) is higher than the mean BMI of male students (21.05±2.87), and students of both genders are normal weight. Adult Obesity Classification'. It was determined that the ‘Nutrition Habits Index’ value of female students was 11.57, and 11.646 for male students. According to this result, male and female students are in the medium risk category.
