Uno de los hechos más emblemáticos que caracterizó la Historia española del último tercio del siglo XX fue, sin lugar a dudas, la desaparición del General Francisco Franco Bahamonde el 20 de noviembre de 1975. Así, el presente trabajo pretende profundizar en el análisis de la repercusión mediática que su muerte tuvo a nivel internacional. A partir de un recorrido panorámico por las páginas de The Times, The Sun, The Daily Mail o The Daily Mirror, se recogen las opiniones que la prensa británica transmitió a sus lectores en referencia a la enfermedad y muerte de Franco, así como sus repercusiones políticas más inmediatas. Aquellos acontecimientos que transcurrieron durante los meses de octubre y noviembre de 1975 supusieron la caída definitiva del franquismo y la oportunidad de establecer en España un régimen democrático. Con la sucesión en el trono del príncipe Juan Carlos se abrían nuevas esperanzas políticas para el país y su posible incorporación a las líneas de actuación europeas. Palabras clave: Medios de comunicación, Franquismo, Monarquía, Democracia. _______________________________ABSTRACT:One of the most representative facts in the Spanish History of the last third of the XX century was, undoubtedly, the death of Francisco Franco Bahamonde in november the 20th of 1975. By this way, the present pages are an intent of investigating in the analysis of his death repercussions in the international panorama. Starting from a compared study of several newspapers (The Times, The Sun, The Daily Mail or The Daily Mirror), I will explain the opinions that the British press offered to its readers about the illness and death of Franco and its more important political repercussions. Those events that took place during the moths of October and November of 1975 were the cause of a definitive fall of Franquism. At the same time they supposed an opportunity to implant in Spain a democratic regime. When the prince Juan Carlos inherited the throne new politic hopes arrived for the country. It would be finally possible the Spanish incorporation in the European performance projects.KeyWords: Media, Franquism, Monarchy, Democracy.
