Metal materials have been extensively applied in diverse fields including construction, engineering, energy, and manufacturing, owing to their merits such as high strength, certain corrosion resistance, ease of fabrication, and low cost.As engineering structural materials, metals are prone to being exposed to a wide range of complex and harsh stress-bearing environments, thereby rendering the problem of metal stress corrosion particularly prominent.Metal stress corrosion cracking (SCC), regarded as an extremely destructive type of corrosion, is typically influenced by the combined effects of the material itself, the corrosive environment, and the stress.Given that there are numerous factors influencing stress corrosion behavior and that the corrosive environments are intricate and varied,it poses numerous difficulties and challenges to the research on stress corrosion issues. This paper comprehensively summarizes the advancements in the stress corrosion of metal materials. Moreover,it elaborates on the impacts of metal stress corrosion from aspects such as the corrosion mechanism, research methodologies, and environmental factors, aiming to provide references for relevant professionals.
