The architectural ensemble of the historic center in Fortaleza-CE-Brazil: statistical analysis of use and meaning

Abstract

Numerous documents, letters and recommendations of UNESCO discuss the importance of community in the process of revitalization, protection and preservation of architectural ensembles, especially when located in urban areas. The conservation of a particular area become successful when the structural, social, economic and cultural factors are identified, discussed and the solutions applied. In that sense, this article is the result of a research whose object, the Historic Center of Fortaleza-CE-Brazil, was evaluated from questionnaire applied to its residents, workers and users of services in this area aimed at the diagnosis on the value of historic, artistic and architectural representative 19TH century at the region.
