Assistance of educational organizations in employment of students and graduates with disabilities: regional aspect

Abstract

Relevance. Low level of employment among graduates with disabilities, while their number in educational institutions in the system of secondary and higher education is increasing. Methods. Comparative analysis, statistical data analysis, content analysis. Aim. To analyze the assistance of educational organizations of the Irkutsk region in employment of students and graduates with disabilities. Results. The author has analyzed statistical information on the number of disabled students enrolled in secondary vocational and higher education programs for the 2017–2022 academic years, performance indicators of universities in the field of employment assistance for graduates with disabilities in Russia and Irkutsk region (the availability of a program to promote employment of graduates with disabilities, carrying out structural units of universities measures to promote employment for students with disabilities, availability of a postgraduate support program for graduates with disabilities), the number of graduates of Irkutsk universities with disabilities who were employed during the calendar year for 2020–2022. The paper describes the results of content analysis of the official websites of six Irkutsk universities. The main problems of promoting the employment of persons with disabilities in modern conditions are identified. Conclusions. Almost in all educational organizations of Irkutsk region, structural units dealing with employment issues were identified. The Internet pages of these structural units are information-rich with various career news and events, links to useful methodological materials and services; and all universities are connected to the digital platform. But information on the results of students and graduates employment promotion is published at insufficient level, as for the persons with disabilities there is lack of such information.
