Bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) with the nominal composition of Co72-xNixTa5P14B6Si3 (x = 18, 20, and 22) are successfully prepared by fluxing treatment and quartz-mold quenching technique. The effects of Ni content on the glass forming ability (GFA), corrosion-resistance, mechanical and magnetic properties are studied systematically. It is found that the fracture strength of the newly developed BMGs could reach higher than 3 GPa. Moreover, corrosion current density is about 10−5 A/cm2 both the BMGs are soaked in 3.5 % NaCl and 1 M HCl electrolytes. Furthermore, the current BMGs are found to be non-magnetic. The above excellent properties make the newly synthesized BMGs attractive in the engineering field, especially in the amorphous coatings.
