AVALIAÇÃO DA PRECISÃO VERTICAL DOS MODELOS SRTM PARA A AMAZÔNIA

Abstract

This paper describes an experiment for evaluation of the vertical precision of the SRTM’s DEM of the C band of interferometric SAR which was compared with the Topography Chart’s DEM 1:100 000 and the GPS field points. The study area is delimited by the parallels 2 ° 30’ and 3 ° 00’ S and meridians 59 ° 30’ and 60 ° 00’ W, in the Amazonas State , near Manaus City . The results demonstrated that in the study area the SRTM Mission’s DEM showed satisfactory evaluation of the vertical precision. In this case, SRTM’s DEM were better than DEM produced by topographic chart information.
