Abstract

The two films that Austrian director Michael Haneke has produced under the same title, “Funny Games”, in 1997 and 2007, focus on the display of violence. However, the second movie is not a traditional self-remake, but the programmatic repetition of the previous one. After a brief theoretical introduction, this article closely examines this provocative project.
