Abstract

This paper analyses the process of construction of material and symbolic power networks, the social representations as well as the participation of the populations of Santiago –differentiated by sex and ethnicity – in the first half of the Seventeenth Century. The discussions about the body and about social representations had a significant influence on the social discipline - which was differentiated through ethnic, social and economic issues -, especially over women’s bodies.
