The relevance of the study is stipulated by the fact that an extra-curricular activity plays an important role while training students in active life, the main task of which is to develop their abilities and talents, to create appropriate conditions which could satisfy students’ interests in their free time. The teacher-organizer, whose training is to be carried out in a pedagogical institution of higher education, is responsible for the fulfilment of this task. The purpose of the article is to highlight the results of the students’ proficiency in (preparedness for) professional activities as educators-organizers at the indicating stage of the experiment. The future teachers’ preparedness as educators-organizers is considered as a multicomponent personal unity characterized by the developed personal qualities (leadership, emotional maturity, creative potential), the availability of the necessary theoretical knowledge about the essence and variability of extracurricular activities, the work of the bodies of student self-government and the formation of practical skills to organize it. To determine the future teachers’ proficiency levels of their professional activity as educators-organizers these methods were used: questionnaires, self-esteem cards (developed by the author); the methodology of COI-1 (Communicative and organizational inclinations) (V. Siniavskyi, V. Fedoryshyn), the determination of the level of emotional perception (M. Hamezo, I. Domashenko), the tests “Diagnosis of leadership abilities (Ye. Zharikov, Ye. Krushelnytskyi), “What is your creative potential?” (O. Potemkina). According to the results of the preliminary stage of the experiment, it was determined that 17.0% of the students demonstrated their proficiency as educators-organizers at the sufficient level, 42.6% of the respondents – at the satisfactory level and 43.4% of the future teachers – at the low level, which testifies to the necessity of purposeful work with the students in order to increase their proficiency level of / preparedness for their professional activity as educators-organizers in general educational institutions.
