This work is an adaptation of one of the chapters of our Master's thesis, entitled “Biography and history: pantheonization and iconoclasm in narratives by Raimundo Magalhaes Junior” defended in 2015, by in the Graduate Program in History at UNESP-Assis. Since the discussion of the biographical theme is amplified in recent years, it would be impractical in a text as an article to explore in detail the advances and retreats, uses and disuses the biographism suffered over time, especially in recent decades. So, we decided to list issues surrounding the discussion on the biographical genre so we may weave some analysis and considerations. The objective of this article is to discuss, at first, aspects involving the biographical narrative and the writing of history, taking as its starting point the discussion of the hybridity issue marking the biographism, a mixture of history and literature, and touching yet the ethical question of the biographer 's craft; then we question the so-called return of the genre and the idea that had been abandoned by the Annales; finally, we come to a reflection on new prospects for making life narratives, involving, among other possibilities, the use of a time hermeneutics, the concept of “biografemas” coined by Roland Barthes, and also the idea of identity pluralization.
