The Role of Information and Communication Technologies in Enhancing Tourism Development: a Case Study of Travel Agencies in M'sila and Bejaia, Algeria
Abstract
Abstract: This study investigates the impact of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) on tourism development in Algeria, focusing on travel agencies in the regions of M'sila and Bejaia. Utilizing a qualitative research approach, the study employs semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders, including travel agency managers, tourism experts, and ICT professionals. The findings reveal that ICT adoption significantly enhances operational efficiency, customer engagement, and market reach in both regions. However, M'sila faces challenges related to infrastructure and digital literacy, which limit the effective use of ICT. In contrast, Bejaia benefits from a more developed ICT infrastructure, facilitating better integration and utilization of digital tools. The study underscores the importance of region-specific strategies to address these challenges and optimize ICT's role in tourism development. The insights provided offer valuable implications for policymakers and practitioners seeking to leverage ICT for sustainable tourism growth in Algeria.
