POLISH POSITION IN THE PRODUCTION OF ENERGY FROM BIOMASS IN COMPARISONWITH OTHER COUNTRIES OF THE EUROPEAN UNION

Abstract

The potential and position of Poland in comparison with other EU countries in the field of solidbiomass production and the possibilities that flow with the use of this raw material for energy purposesare presented. To assess changes in the biomass market in EU countries, tabular, graphical and descriptivemethods were used. Due to its geographical location and climatic conditions, Poland is developing the RESsector using its own resources, which gives it one of the leading positions in the EU. This has a significantimpact on the difficulties that Poland is facing to achieve the EU’s 15% renewable energy share in finalgross energy consumption.
