Fuego en Casabindo represents some deviations from Argentine regionalism, with a programmatic geographical and literary frontier location, that inquires collective and intimate identities, as well as the complexities of constructing memory. The break between an epic past and a present deprived of future puts forward the frontier and the recognition of the other as the culture of a defeated world. The reconstruction of Argentine violent history, from oral versions sifted through mythic worldviews, constitutes the story of defeated silent beings, fragmented by dying identities revitalized by a literature with no residual regionalism at all
