Is Archaeology still a « colonial » science, a tool of the Empires? Does it or not provide a better understanding of the History of “The Other”? How to conceive archaeology in the future? Archaeology plays a crucial role in reconstructing history and societal organization wherever transfer of knowledge is not available through written sources. It equally offers many other dimensions such as sustainable development, multidisciplinarity and a multivocal approach. As a case study, the Royal Museum for Central Africa, a former colonial institution, today collaborates intensively with the African Diaspora on the local re-appropriation of the colonial past and has been developing various multidisciplinary projects, breaking barriers between the different sciences.
