A brief review of mathematical models concerning the vertical variation of the water density in the sea

Abstract

This paper is concerned with a fundamental marine<br />problem, i.e. the internal waves. After a discussion of the physical assumptions<br />about some mathematical models describing the vertical structure<br />of the sea, we present the various driving forces and the different theoretical<br />formalisms to approach the problem.
