Intraabdominal extralobar pulmonary sequestration
Abstract
Pulmonary sequestrations are congenital malformations of the lung of mixed origin -bronchial and arterial-, which are characterized by a zone of non-functioning cystic embryonic lung tissue whose vascularization is through an anomalous systemic artery. The case of a patient who receives a confirmation of the diagnosis of abdominal tumor by ultrasound, at birth, is reported. A contrasted computerized axial tomography was conducted and the patient underwent surgery. A left supraumbilical transverse incision was performed and the retroperitoneal space was accessed through the opening of the line of Toldt. The pathology report showed extralobar pulmonary sequestration (abdominal) with a cystic adenomatoid malformation.
