Objective After reaching an operational lifespan, the signaling systems of existing urban rail transit lines need updating and renovation. A depot interlocking interface scheme should be developed to achieve a smooth transition and seamless switching between indoor and outdoor signaling equipment of the new and old depots. Method Taking the signaling system renovation project of an urban rail transit depot in China for case study, the interface modes between the renovated depot and the existing main line station, as well as the test line before renovation, between the new depot and the new main line station, as well as the new test line are introduced. The layout scheme for the interface between the new depot and the existing main line station in the renovation project is elaborated. On this basis, the reverse connection scheme, implementation method, characteristics, and risks of the interlocking system between the new and old depots during the existing depot signaling renovation process are analyzed emphatically. Result & Conclusion By implementing the interlocking interface renovation scheme, the conversion of interface connection modes between the depot and the main line station, as well as the test line before and after the renovation can be achieved by stages, and a smooth transition of interface connection conversion can be ensured.
