Integration genom kriser: Europeiska kommissionens växande säkerhets- och försvarspolitiska roll

Abstract

Den här artikeln analyserar Europeiska kommissionens växande roll inom försvars- och säkerhetspolitiken efter Rysslands fullskaliga invasion av Ukraina 2022. Studien belyser hur kommissionen har lanserat flera nya försvarsindustriella initiativ som en direkt följd av kriget. Dessutom studeras EU:s sanktionspolitik mot Ryssland, kommissionens insatser för att främja EU:s utvidgning samt dess ekonomiska stöd till Ukraina. Artikeln fokuserar på kommissionens centrala roll i att utforma och driva dessa politiska processer och initiativ inom unionen efter krigsutbrottet. Sammantaget framhåller artikeln att Europeiska kommissionen i allt högre grad har utvecklats till en geopolitisk aktör. Abstract in English: Integration Through Crises: The European Commission’s Growing Security and Defense Policy Role This article analyses the growing role of the European Commission in defence and security policy following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The study highlights how the Commission has launched several new defence industrial initiatives as a direct result of the war. Additionally, the article examines the EU’s sanctions policy against Russia, the Commission’s efforts to promote EU enlargement, and its economic support to Ukraine. The article focuses on the Commission’s central role in shaping and driving these political processes and initiatives within the Union after the outbreak of the war. Overall, the article underlines that the European Commission has increasingly developed into a geopolitical actor.
