Aventriculy with holoprosencephaly and Chiari 3 malformation: A rare case report from resource limited set up; Ethiopian report
Abstract
We are reporting a rare case of a 4-day-old neonate presented with occipital area swelling with imaging findings of Aventriculy with Holoprosencephaly (HPE) and Chiari 3 malformation (C3M). So far, there is no report in the literature of these three central nervous system malformations appearing in a single newborn brain. Advances in neuroimaging may reveal more syndromic malformations. The patient stayed in the neonatal intensive care unit with the treatment of pneumonia and died at the age of 7 days before surgical intervention.
