L’adaptation linguistique des Jésuites à Taiwan sous le gouvernement de Chiang Kai-shek : les enjeux politiques et culturels

Abstract

In Taiwan, the nationalist system wants to sinicize the island, Japanese from 1895 to 1945. The episcopate accepts this sinicization. But the population speaks various dialects and the Jesuit missionaries adapt themselves well to this linguistic diversity. The publications in hakka and the preaching of the P. del Valle in atayal language are particularly studied. In order to spread better their message, the Jesuits train not baptized catechists; but, badly paid, they are fewer when occurs the Taiwanese economic boom.
