NH4Cl Catalyzed synthesis of β-amino Esters

Abstract

A novel and efficient ammonium chloride catalyzed one-pot reaction of aromatic amines, aromatic aldehyde or respective imine with malonic esters was described. This cascade reaction affords the corresponding β-amino esters in good to excellent yield at room temperature in the presence of ethanol as solvent. The present methodology includes an inexpensive catalyst, easy work-up, mild reaction conditions, no side reaction and compatibility with the various substrates.
