Politiques urbaines et implantation des gated communities en Amérique latine : le cas des barrios cerrados (Buenos Aires), condomínios fechados (São Paulo) et fraccionamientos (Puebla)

Abstract

The analysis of the urban policies transformations helps to better understand the establishment of gated communities in different contexts. Our research has three Latin American cities as case studies: Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo and Puebla. It leads to a reflection on the meaning of democracy, equity and inequality in urban Latin America and the changing role of government in major cities of Latin America. Conclusively, we discuss the significance of political and administrative aspects of gated communities.
