Leowigildo Martins de Mello e a organização da Escola Normal de Cuiabá
Abstract
This study analyses the Normal School in Cuiabá, created and organized by a teacher from São Paulo, Leowigildo Martins de Mello, who was graduated by the Normal School “Caetano de Campos” and that moved to Mato Grosso at the request of the local Government, with the objective of structuring the public instruction in the State. Based on the analysis of the organizational and curricular structure of that institution, I tried to establish a comparison between the São Paulo scholar model, represented by Mello, and the form in which such model was incorporated taking into account the educational, social and economic reality of the State of Mato Grosso.
