The article investigates the issue of employing information technology in the analysis of the writer’s individual style. It describes an attempt to investigate the Russian writer I. S. Turgenev’s use of lexical units transmitting evaluative connotation in his descriptions of nature. The article enumerates information resources (RNC (Russian National Corpus), Russian Morphological Dictionary, Mystem, Psyoffice, VAAL-2000 Content Analysis, Textarc) and demonstrates their potential use in close reading.
