LAS REPRESENTACIONES QUE EL DIARIO EL TIEMPO HACE DE LOS INDÍGENAS EN COLOMBIA The Re presentations of Colombian Indigenous Peoples made by the El Tiempo Newspaper
Abstract
El artículo trata de las representaciones de los indígenas en Colombia por parte de El Tiempo, único diario de circulación nacional en el periodo estudiado (2004-2006). Con base en el modelo lingüístico y comunicativo propuesto por el lingüista colombiano Luis Alfonso Ramírez Peña, se analizan e interpretan tales representaciones, construidas a partir de voces, ideas e imaginarios provenientes de la cultura. La finalidad de este estudio es caracterizar el modelo comunicativo de El Tiempo, el cual contribuye -dado su carácter y su incidencia- a la consolidación de relaciones, modos de comportamiento e identidades en el encuentro de la sociedad dominante con las culturas minoritarias en el país.This article deals with the representation of Colombian Indians by El Tiempo, the only newspaper of national circulation at the time of the study (2004-2006). Using the linguistic and communicative model proposed by Colombian linguist Luis Alfonso Ramírez Peña, such representations are analyzed from this culture's voices, ideas and imaginaries. The goal of the study is to define the communicative model used by El Tiempo which contributes-as given by its nature and occurrence-to the consolidation of the relationships, behaviors, and identities of the interaction between the country's dominant and minority cultures.
