Mujeres, pobreza y equidad de género

Abstract

Concentrating on Latin America, this article explores the close relationship between poverty and gender, arguing that the amount of poor men and women is usually dissimilar. Indeed, the author demonstrates that, in general terms, women tend to be much poorer than men. She attributes this fact to three main reasons: Work division; Income; Housework; Access to education. Each of the different sections of this article analyses one of these four elements in depth.
