Déroutages : trajectoires des œuvres de Lasar Segall confisquées par « l’Action contre l’art dégénéré »
Abstract
This article presents the results of a survey about the trajectory of 58 works of art by Lasar Segall that were confiscated in the « Action against Degenerate Art » undertaken by the Nazis. The analysis of the Russian artist’s particular case allows to observe this kind of policy before, during and after the Hitlerian regime from another perspective. The destiny of Segall’s works present in the German public collections before 1937, elucidates cultural, political, and social dynamics that affected Germany between 1918 and 1945.
