La conversation comme phénomène d’émergence collaborative
Abstract
To explore the creative improvisationality of everyday conversation, I conducted an extensive empirical study of an extremely improvised genre of talk : the staged theater performances of improvisational theater groups in Chicago, USA. To fully understand and explain these dialogues, I found it necessary to develop a new theoretical framework that I call collaborative emergence : this framework posits that the shared interactional frame emerges from creative conversation, and then has causal power over the participated individuals. This theoretical framework thus diverges from the most influential approaches to conversation, including conversation analysis (in sociology) and the ethnography of speaking (in anthropology).
