SOCIAL PERCEPTIONS OF AUTISM DISORDER
Abstract
Abstract: The topics of therapeutic care for diseases and disorders have gained significant attention, particularly in the fields of psychology, sociology, and educational sciences, which has enriched the discussion of various diseases and disorders leading to serious efforts to develop strategies for dealing with these groups. However, with autism spectrum disorder, there has been some confusion in understanding its causes, symptoms, and even its nature, which has led to families of individuals with autism being unaware of the appropriate methods for dealing with their loved ones. Therefore, this paper addresses the social perceptions of this disorder, specifically how intellectuals and the general public perceive autism. For this purpose, we selected a research sample consisting of an educated class with a high level of education and a class of the general public. Using a descriptive approach, we hypothesize that autism is better understood by scholars than by the general public. Keywords: Autism psychological disorder, social perceptions, general public, educated class.
