A expansão da fronteira agrícola no norte do Mato Grosso:impactos sócios-ambientais da exploração madereira

Abstract

The state of Mato Grosso is characterized for presenting a territorial extension of more than 900.000 Km², where approximately 40% of its area is constituted of forest covering. The disordered occupation and development that started on the end the 70´s, have been causing several environmental upheavlas, current of the activities that generated impacts, mainly the deforestment in the forest areas, starting on the opening of highways that supplied to sustain its development.
