Sociological impacts of energy management at Tema Oil Refinery

Abstract

Abstract The study at Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) analyzes how gender, age, and educational qualifications impact energy management. Established in 1963 and state-owned since 1977, TOR’s capabilities have notably grown post-1996 reforms. Analyzing 200 employees across key departments with a Likert-scale questionnaire and SPSS, the study finds significant gender differences in energy management views, advocating for inclusive and tailored communication. It highlights age and education's role in shaping perceptions, suggesting targeted engagement and training. The optimism of newer employees underscores the need for continuous engagement. The study recommends TOR tailor its energy management and environmental strategies to its diverse workforce demographics to improve sustainability initiative effectiveness and acceptance.
