The Influence of Artistic Décor of 18th – Early 19th Century Western European Varnish Centres on the Work of Demidov Nizhny Tagil Plant
Abstract
The article considers the little-studied aspect of Nizhny Tagil varnish industry, i.e. its possible connection and sources in the artistic décor of Western European varnish centres on the varnish business of the Nizhny Tagil plant of the Demidovs. The author uses archival documents and rare published Russian and Western European sources.
