Times of Psychiatric Renovation: The Clinic of the Reception and the Direction of the Treatment in the Hospital Juliano Moreira in Salvador – Bahia
Abstract
Psychiatric reform has been demanding changes in mental health. Induced by the asylum model, subjective resignation’s opposition approaches psychiatric reform and psychoanalysis. In Salvador, Juliano Moreira Hospital (JMH) is a reference in the area and used to be a fertile area to search changes pleads by the reform, such as subject’s clinic. Over two years, the research outlined here has examined the subject’s clinic in clinical screening and treatments at the JMH. Passive observation of thirty clinical screenings in the year of 2006 showed that the use of subject’s clinic was related to a choice of professionals. Medical records show that 63% of cases only attended psychiatry’s outpatient clinic in the year of 2007. There is an attempt to roll out new means of mental health, but this initiative has not reached 50% of cases examined yet.
