“Una vitalidad desesperada”. The writing of the duel in Disruptions of Silvia Molloy
Abstract
When re-reading Hamlet, Derrida offers a number of interpretations of “out of joint” from the Shakespearean phrase “the time is out of joint”: a disjointed, upset, dislocated time. We extrapolate such a strong idea to think Desarticulaciones (2010) by Silvia Molloy. We believe this impossible story can only be narrated as flashes grouped into a sort of journal of grief. A grief experienced in advance for whom has already lost her memory, a grief “out of joint”. But we also think this “out of joint” as the unsettling of the narrator. In fact, in Desarticulaciones, the narrative voice chooses to speak not from the memory of arrogant necrological data, but from a loving voice born to keep the beloved alive.
