Implicative Communication and the Formation of Sequential Pairs (in Material in and about Slovenian)
Abstract
Sequences in discourse are shaped as a consequence of realizing possible steps by participants and are expressed at the textual level—we determine the textuality of what is linguistically realized—and in the process of communication. Both serve one purpose: to use the least effort and exertion to make the best impression in order to create favorable conditions for achieving a desired goal with regard to the established agreement between what is (textually) realized and context with the anticipated effects on individuals’ behavior in a group.
