Tetherless communications: the next step in the development of global personal communication network

Abstract

Tetherless communications which include all kinds of mobile communication systems (wireless telephony, radio paging, cellular mobile and radio data systems) are considered. Tetherless communications represent the fastest growing segment of telecommunications industry. A principal aim is realization of personal communication network (PCN) which ought to provide global access for all users. The concept of global PCN, realized by the combination of existing cable infrastructure and tetherless communications systems, is discussed.
