HISTORY OF THE STUDY OF DERIVATIVE NOUNS WITH THE FORMANT -н/я/

Abstract

The article is devoted to the history of the study of derivative nouns with the formant -н/я/. The aim of the study is to determine the degree of knowledge of world-forming types with formant -н/я/ in Russian linguistics. The article presents an overview of works by Russian linguists, starting with the research performed by V. V. Vinogradov in the middle of XX century and ending with the research performed by the representatives ofKemerovoderivative school in the late XX – early XXI centuries. Various aspects of the analysis of substantives with formant -н/я/ in the literature, in particular, raises the question of efficiency of world-forming types with formant -н/я/. The conclusion was made that the derivatives were studied usually fragmentarily (on the level of one word analysis) or analyzed in a row of other types of derivatives in the description of the word formation system of the Russian language. The information presented in this article may be of interest to linguists who study the problem of efficiency of world-forming types and the semantics of nouns with formant -н/я/.
