The output allocation control strategies of DPFC (distributed power flow controller) for multiple subunits now generally use the equalization method and the capacity proportion method, which, however, fail to avert low overall utilization and high losses of the device when the controlled line regulation is small. Based on the topology of DPFC, the output power loss and the operating loss of subunits are analyzed. In respect of the output voltage and capacity of the subunits, the paper proposes a coordinated output power and control strategy for multiple subunits of DPFC taking into account the total loss of DPFC, utilization ratio of subunits, and related constraints in terms of device output voltage and capacity. Furthermore, a simulation model of the typical 110 kV systems, including ten groups of subunits with different capacities, is constructed using PSCAD/EMTDC. The simulation results verify the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed coordinated output power and control strategy.
